I think I'll raise some pheasants this spring

The past couple of years I have oooed and aaaahed over some cute pheasants at the feed and garden store.  Should I give raising a few pheasants a try? Very pretty.  I don't want pets.  No long term commitments.  No chickens. Just some beautiful wild birds wandering in and out of the yard to enjoy. The clerk suggested that I would only have to raise them about 12 weeks until they would be full grown and could fend for themselves.  Do-able. 
Finally this year May 2012 I jumped in. 
I started by reading all I could on the internet.  I could keep them in a dog crate and take them outside each day.  Oops.  I didn't read enough.
